Building height alone isn't a significant impact in some state environmental reviews

Under state environmental review law, effects of added building height alone, such as shadows or light reflection, are not significant for projects on graded infill sites covered by a certified environmental report that fit local airport land use plans. Industrial projects and sensitive habitat sites are excluded.

Who it affects

Developers of infill projects and the local agencies that review them

When

This law takes effect on January 1, 2027. California laws take effect on January 1 of the year after they are signed, unless the law says otherwise.
