Renewing notaries must pass the written exam and may sign with an electronic signature
Notaries seeking reappointment must pass the state written exam as well as the refresher course, and may sign certificates, oaths and affidavits with a protected electronic signature that matches their handwritten one. The permit fee for notary seal makers is set at $100.
